Pixaloop: Animate your photos and magically bring them to life!

Have you ever wondered how to make a photo like this?

In this article I will explain step by step how to animate your photos!

All you need is Pixaloop,an app for both iOS andAndroid!

It is a very simple app to use and that will magically allow you to bring your photos to life!

Without further ado, let’s start with the tutorial!

STEP 1

Open the Pixaloop app, click on the second icon on the top left and select New Project.
Now you just have to choose the photo you want to edit!

STEP 2

First of all the first thing to do is block the objects / people you don’t want to animate.
To do this click on Animate and then on Freeze.
Now with the brush you can select all the portions of the photo you want to remain still.

In my case, I select man and the land he walks on.
There is no need to be super precise, just make sure you color all the object to be blocked , trying to follow the contours as much as possible.

Don’t worry, if you make a mistake you can delete the selection with the eraser or simply go back with the arrow!

PS: You can also lock elements using the Anchor function.
With this function you will set points on the edge of the object to be blocked.
It is more precise as a tool but personally I find the other one better because it is easier and faster!

STEP 3

Now you just have to bring your photo to life!
To do this click on Path.
Then draw lines on the photo based on how you want the background to move!
They can be straight lines, zigzags, swirls etc!
To see the effect, just click on Play.

Have fun and experiment until you get the best result!
In my case I opted for horizontal and short lines, to obtain an effect that is not too chaotic but simple and effective!

If you are not satisfied you can always click on Remove and select the arrow you want to delete.

STEP 4

There are numerous other features on Pixaloop.
For example, with Speed you can select the speed of the animation.
Or with Loop you can create a Boomerang effect!

In the main screen there are also other tools that allow you to do other things on your photos.
If you are interested I will tell you about it in a future post!

STEP 5

When you are satisfied with the result you can export your project by simply clicking on Export.

You can choose the length and definition in which to save the video.

I’m fine with the Free version of the app, but if you want there is an upgrade to Pro thanks to which you can save the videos in Gif or Live Photo format, with a resolution up to 2K!

Here you can find an easy tutorial that I made!

I hope you enjoyed this article!
