How to write with your camera! #PhotoLab

If you want to find out how to write with your camera, you are in the right place!

This is the first article of a new series called #PhotoLab, in which I will tell you about my new “experiments” with photography!

Actually it all started a bit by chance, while I was trying to take a picture of a bell tower in low light conditions.
Despite not having a tripod I tried to shoot and this was the result.

The slow shutter speed and my shaky hand had transformed the light of a street lamp into a kind of abstract work.
So I decided to delve into it and experiment further!

We know that by using any light source and long shutter speeds you can create very beautiful effects, such as writing or drawings.
But what I’ve tried to do is the exact opposite.

In this case it is not a question of writing with light but with the camera!

In short, instead of moving the light you move the camera, tracing the contours of the figure with it, as if it’s your pen!

All you need is a camera that allows you to set the shutter speed, a dark room and any light source, in my case a candle.

To make the shots I used the Tv mode (Shutter Priority) and set it from 2 to 4 seconds depending on the image I wanted to create!

ATTENTION: To get the figure you have in mind correctly oriented, you will have to hold the camera upside down or draw your figures upside down in the air!
I’ll give you an example of how you should draw your design in the air in the case of a heart:

You can give free rein to your imagination and try to reproduce whatever you want!
At the beginning it is not very easy, but slowly you will be able to do it very easily.

The hardest thing is drawing in the air mentally without being able to see what you’re doing, but it’s also the funniest part!

Of course it is difficult to obtain precise results but the effect is still very beautiful!

Let me know below in the comments if you have ever tried this technique, or if you will try it after reading this article!
